Who is Terry Phong?
My personal journey revolves around Jesus's love for me, this forms every aspect of my work. With 25 years of marriage and raising four daughters, I understand the importance of nurturing relationships with God and others, which is at the core of my approach to assisting clients in managing stress and anxiety through faith and Biblical principles.
Driven by a passion for personal and spiritual growth, as well as a love for online entrepreneurship, I offer strategies deeply rooted in scriptural teachings that speaks to those seeking to live a life of peace and balance...
My journey all started when I made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and build a personal relationship with Him.
Before finding my faith...
Some people seem to have their whole life all figured out. They know who they are and what they want to be when they grow up. Just for the record, that wasn't me!
While others seemed to go after what they wanted in life, whether it was material things or approval from others, I just couldn't bring myself to do the same. It's like I was missing something inside, but I couldn't figure out what exactly what.
I think we've all had those moments, where we question life and who God is, if He really exist at all. I would ask myself
questions like,
"Who am I?" "What's my purpose in life?" you know, the kind of questions that'll keep you up at night. It was personal for me though, because I never knew who my father was. That really made me wonder about my own identity.
Growing up, I always felt like something was missing. It's like that feeling we get in a new school at lunch time. We see different groups of kids forming around us and we're not sure where we fit in. Maybe even realize that some lunch tables are cooler than others. What will we do? Make a play for a seat at the cool table or feel uncomfortable because we just uncovered this fact?
If you've ever felt lost or struggled with your identity, just know that you're not alone. We're all on a journey to find ourselves and our place in this world.
Self-discovery is no easy task, and sometimes the answers we find about ourselves may not be what we expected. I won't dive too much into what my life was like before "getting saved", I'll save that for another time. However, I do want to talk about the two different perspectives on identity: the worldly view and the Godly view.
Ultimately, our upbringing often shapes our worldview, whether it leans towards a humanistic perspective or a Christian perspective. How we see the world influences how we answer questions about our own identity. It's like using a plumb-line to straighten out a crooked wall - starting with the right foundation is key.
I thought I found my identity as an entrepreneur, but looking back, I realize I was following man's way instead of God's way. I had good intentions, but I was easily led astray by all the flashy promises and quick fixes in the business world. It's easy to get lost in the noise and lose sight of who you truly are.
After years of trying to fit into the marketing mold, I had to take a step back and reassess my business and who I've become. What started as a desire to help others had become clouded by the pressure to make sales at any cost. I felt like I was losing touch with my true self, and it was time to make a change.
I was on this journey to find my true self and purpose in life, and I realized something pretty amazing along the way. I had been searching for my identity in all the wrong places.
We often try to find ourselves in material possessions, relationships, or social status, but none of that really fills the void inside us. It wasn't until I turned to God and His Word that I discovered the ultimate answer to my identity crisis.
According to Genesis 1:26, we are created in the image and likeness of God Himself. How incredible is that? Our true identity is found in Him, and everything falls into place when we put Him at the center of our lives.
I learned that my purpose is to have a relationship with God, to belong wherever He leads me, and to find completeness in Him. This realization led me to my calling as a Spirit Driven Life Coach.
So, friend, what's your story? If you feel like you don't quite fit in, remember that "Jesus loved the outcast".
And You are valued and loved just as you are.
